DIY Head Chain

Head chains are a simple, elegant way to give your outfit a bohemian vibe. In today's tutorial, I'll show you how you can make your own. It's very cheap and very simple. :)

This easy-to-make accessory only requires a few materials. You will need:
  • Two jump rings
  • Chains (I used five necklace chains)
  • Pliers
Now, I'm not always the best at explaining things, so I've provided a little overhead visual of what it should look like. There should be two chains on each side, with one chain in the middle. The middle chain is what rests on top of your head. Hopefully this picture will help you if my explanation makes no sense.

First, take a long piece of chain and wrap it around your head. Cut the chain to size. Then, take a second piece of chain and make it slightly longer than the first chain you measured. (You want it to be a little longer so that it droops a little below the first chain.) Then, I cut both chains exactly in half. Put them aside but don't mix them up. :)

Next, measure another piece of chain from the center of your forehead to the back of your head. This is the piece that goes in the middle and rests on top of your head. There's really no exact measurement to this –just choose a length to your liking. I prefer that it's longer so it doesn't look so tight on my head.

Lastly, you will put everything together. Using your pliers, open a jump ring. First connect one end of the middle chain to the jump ring. Then, add the left long chain and right long chain. After that, attach the left short chain and right short chain. Repeat these steps on the other half. (I apologize if my explanation was confusing. xD)

Here's a front view of what the headpiece looks like!

My tutorial shows you how you can make the most basic head chain, but you could make yours as elaborate as you want. Here are a few variations I found on google. I hope these inspire your next project. :)

Hope you guys liked my tutorial! Until next time!
