Skin Food Black Sesame Hot Mask Review

I've heard of cooling masks that refresh your skin, but I wasn't aware that there were hot masks too! After KoKo (Korean Kosmetics) notified me that I would be receiving this to review, I was really eager to try it out for myself.

So my first impression of this product was that it had cute packaging. The mask comes in a little plastic tub. On the label, it says "Warm heat mask with salt and sugar powder to deep cleanse wastes in rough skin with accumulated keratin and with nutritious black sesame powder to make smooth skin.

"The sweet black sesame scent reminds me of a Chinese dessert soup my mom makes, lol! It might be unpleasant to people who have never smelled it before, but it really did remind me of food, hence the company's name, Skin Food? :)

The consistency is quite viscous, with a fine grainy texture. Most of it comes from the salt and sugar, but there are bits of black sesame that exfoliate your skin and improve circulation.

When first applied, it feels like a sticky paste. The label says to rub it in a circular motion, and I started to feel it warming up. It was pretty amazing! It felt nice and toasty, perfect for really cold days. After I washed the mask off, it exfoliated my skin, but I did not notice any other changes. My skin looked and felt pretty much the same. I think this product should be called a scrub rather than a mask.

I also let my sister try it out, but she got a mild allergic reaction to it! She got little bumps all over her face. :( This is not recommended for people with sensitive skin.

Overall, I would rate this product ★★☆☆☆. Although it is very unique and feels relaxing, I did not see any improvement in my skin, even after multiple uses.

Thanks again to KoKo for sponsoring this review! I have another product of theirs (one that I quite enjoyed) and I will be making a review post on it very soon, so keep an eye out for that one! Before I go, I just want to let you guys know a few things:

  1. Hey Nat! SkinFood's Rice Mask is waaay better I believe, it works as a gentle scrub and also leaves your skin feeling very soft and smooth. I guess the "rice" essence really helps to make our skin softer!

I nominated you for my Versatile Blogger Award, and I hope you can check it out and do it too ^^
