DIY Canvas Art

I definitely think my newest hobby is finding affordable ways to decorate my room. My latest project has been making these little artworks to display! Each one is chic and only took a couple minutes to make. Best of all, it cost me next to nothing.

I purchased box canvases from Walmart, which were on sale and came in a pack of four. Normally, you'd probably have to pay $10-$20 for a simple artwork like this, but for $5, I was able to make 4! (The fourth one which is not shown in pictures is currently being used as a memo board where I just pin on little notes to myself.)

For the first canvas, I took 4 colors I liked and put it together in a simple palette. Using a thick, flat brush, I made a heavy upward stroke and repeated across the entire canvas in alternating colors. I did varying paintbrush stroke lengths and thicknesses. In some, I even combined two colors together for a cool ombré effect.

For the second canvas, I printed a silhouette of a deer and glued it to the center of the canvas. Then, I used mod podge to cover the entire deer and dumped glitter all over it. Once it was dry, I added a top coat of mod podge to seal in the glitter to prevent fallout.

For the last canvas, I simply searched for a quote I liked on pinterest and printed it out. I cut the sheet of paper to fit the canvas and glued it on. Then, I added a coat of mod podge in a glossy finish to seal it.

Now I have my little artworks arranged all around my bedroom! Here's what my nightstand currently looks like. I have a couple journals and the books I'm reading at the moment, and my canvases really make this area stand out.

Here's the other canvas, which I have placed on top of my bookshelf next to my fake orchid and striped gold jar that I made.

Hope you enjoyed this post and that it brought inspiration to your next home decor project!
