Hiking in Zion National Park

Zion National Park, located in Utah, is one of my favorite U.S. destinations to date. There is so much natural beauty all in one place! I believe Zion truly helped me develop a greater sense of appreciation for nature and an interest in hiking.

If you plan on visiting, my advice to you is to get there as early as possible. The lines to enter the park and get transported by the shuttles get long very quickly. Even at 10 AM, it was already quite busy. An added perk is that there was a lot of shade when we went in the morning. If you don't want to get scorched by the sun, I recommend going earlier!

Matt and I tried to hike Angel's Landing. Unfortunately, it was closed that day due to a hiker getting injured. They had to get airlifted out! Since we were not able to make it all the way to the top, we went as far as we could possibly go on this trail.

I'm not going to lie - the hike up is really exhausting. Some parts are so steep, you're gonna wish you didn't skip leg day. Although it is tiring, I found it to be fun. Hikes aren't quite as exciting if they're easy! Plus, the views from up top make it worth it – you earned this view dude!! Forget how sore you're going to be the next day, just take in this beautiful sight. Anyway, depending on your skill level, the hike up and back down will take you about 3-5 hours.

You'll encounter some switchback trails along the way. I thought these were pretty fun.

If you're not much for strenuous hikes, there are a few trails that are short and easy. Or if you want to do something challenging besides Angel's Landing, there are also other options for you! The park is huge and you could spend days here. I really wish I got to experience it all.

I wish we had more time on this trip, because there's still so much I want to see! I hope to return someday. One thing I want to do in particular is trek through The Narrows. I feel like this would be so fun, especially on a hot day.

Until next time Zion! I'll be back for you!
