How To Take Your Own Fashion/Outfit Photos

Let's face it - we don't always have an Instagram husband or wife to follow us wherever we go and take cute photos where we're pretending to be candid. But that doesn't mean you can't take your own photographs for your fashion blog/Instagram! Here are a few of my quick tips.

A post shared by NATALIE LAI (@natalie.lai) on

Use A Tripod

So the #1 tool you'll need is a tripod! You don't have to invest in anything fancy or expensive when you're first starting out. There's plenty of decent yet affordable ones available on Amazon. A tripod is going to be your best friend. Find one that's light and portable so you can take it with you on the go and set it up where you need to.

Octopus iPhone Tripod

If you don't want to lug around an actual tripod and you're more into iphoneography, that's okay too! You can get a little iPhone mount with flexible legs so you can adjust it to stand anywhere. You can even wrap it around things like poles, building structures, etc. to capture the photo from any height and angle.

Maintaining Silver/Gray Hair At Home With Overtone

We've all heard of the struggle with maintaining silver hair - it looks amazing, but doesn't last long. After a couple washes, it just fades back to a bleached blonde. The upkeep can be both expensive and time consuming. With Overtone's line of vegan and cruelty-free treatments and daily conditioners, you can maintain your metallic locks cheaply and in the comfort of your own home.

I got an ashy blonde balayage done a couple weeks back and I was so in love with the final look. Sadly, it didn't last long at all. After two weeks, it already started to look not so ashy and more of a brassy shade. Then, I got the chance to collaborate with Overtone and I was excited to see if they could revive my hair!

Psst..if you're interested in Overtone's products, here's $10 off your first order!

4 Things You Should Do In College

Now that I've been a college graduate about three months, I've had time to reflect on (and miss) all the amazing experiences I've had as a student. If any of you were to ask me what I think are some must-do things while you're in college, I would tell you these things:

4 Honest and Raw Movies About Love You Need To See

I'm a sucker for romantic movies – they never fail to make me smile or give me a little boost. But I've found that the ones that really made an impact on me are the ones so raw and honest about life, ones that don't always necessarily have a happy beginning, middle, or ending. Romantic movies give us so many expectations and fantasies. They almost dictate the way love should be, but it's so one-sided. We hardly see the many other realities of love.

So here's a list of some of the honest-to-God movies that spoke to me on many levels.

Travel In Style: JORD Wood Watch Review + Giveaway

wooden watches, wood watch, wood watches, men’s wooden watch, women’s wooden watch, women’s watch, unique men’s watches, cool watches

A wooden watch may be your next must-have accessory.

If you're like me, you do not like to stuff your suitcases when traveling - just the bare essentials. And you definitely don't like clunky jewelry and accessories getting in your way when you're doing things like riding the gondolas in Venice, exploring the wonders of Antelope Canyon, or getting up close and personal with the deer in Nara Park. But at the same time, you want to travel in style and look good for the camera! After all, there are so many photo ops when you're traveling.

Tarte Tarteist PRO Amazonian Clay Palette Review

This Tarteist Palette review is long overdue because I've had this for almost a year now, but it's still one of my current favorites so I had to write a post on this!

The two shades that sold me on this palette are Whimsy and Mod. They are absolutely gorgeous reddish and orangey shades that are perfect for Fall eye makeup looks. Before getting the Tarteist Palette, I was actually eyeing the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette because the shades were pretty similar, but I ended up wanting the Tarteist Palette more because it had more shades to choose from and seemed like a better fit for my everyday looks.

4 Easy Tips To Boost Your Productivity

Hello everyone! You must be surprised to see me. If you read my previous post, I said I was ready to jump back into blogging and HERE I FINALLY AM, after six months lol. I kept putting it off because life just got in the way, with so many events happening during senior year of college (and I was just being lazy to be completely honest). Well now that I am an official college graduate and definitely have way more free time. Thank you so much for reading if you're still here with me! I've been on my hiatus for far too long, so let's try this again.

Being productive and accomplishing what you actually planned on doing is probably something everyone struggles with a little. (I know I do.) So here are some of my top tips on how to stay productive and accomplish the tasks you set out for yourself!
